The Photo Gallery 233: My Favourite Place

Lickey Hills Lickey Hills Collage Lickey Hills with Vizsla

I write about this place all the time so I’m going to let the photos do the talking this time around.
I very rarely take my dSLR camera out with me when I go to the Lickey Hills because we’re usually dog walking or treasure hunting or picnicking and we’ve been tramping around its trees for years. I probably have a million photos of it. Slight exaggeration.
But even now, after all this time, I find there is always always an amazing picture opportunity at every turn so I’m there snapping away with my phone camera instead.

This was us over half term. The bluebells have gone, the leaves are the most amazing green and the roots are still otherworldly! Forgive the slightly out of focus pictures, but appreciate the green and leafy and beautiful surroundings I get to call our local haunt.

This post is for week 233 of The Photo Gallery. The theme is: My Favourite Place.

Now it’s your turn to link up your post and join in. If you’re new here and want to know what the Photo Gallery feature is, go and read all about it, and then come right back and join in!

Here’s how to join in

Take a photo using the theme I’ve given as your inspiration. There are no rules and you can interpret the theme any way you like. Write a blog post or caption. You can write as many or as few words as you like. You don’t even need to use a new photo; just a photo you think represents the prompt.

Add the Photo Gallery badge (and the foot of this post) to your post so other readers can find the other entries.

Use the linky tool at the bottom of this post to link up your post so readers can find you. The linky stays open until Tuesday so you have plenty of time to join in.

➤ Tweet me with the hashtag #thegallery and I will retweet and share your entry (you can find me on Twitter @Tara_Cain). Or you can  use the hashtag #thegallery on Instagram (I’m over there as TaraLara) and I will share and comment on your photos there.

Now go visit as many of the other entries as you can. Leave a comment, discover new blogs, discover new ways of taking photos and maybe share any tips you have.

The Photo Gallery isn’t about taking technically brilliant photos. You can take them on your phone, your point and shoot or your fancy pants camera. It’s about having a passion for photos, wanting to better yourself and discovering what other bloggers are doing.

You can also find the Photo Gallery on  Pinterest and Google +

Follow Tara Cain’s board The Photo Gallery on Pinterest.

To ensure you don’t miss a prompt, you can subscribe to the Sticky Fingers feed to have them delivered directly to your inbox every Friday.

PLEASE don’t link dump – this is not that sort of linky!

Oh Tara Lickey Hills looks wonderful, I bet it smells really good too. Fabulous place to take that beautiful dog for a walk. It’s impossible to choose a favourite place locally as I have a few but we found a new favourite place last weekend. Hope you’re enjoying being back at school so to speak x

  2. Such a beautiful place. You’re lucky to have somewhere like that on your doorstep. It’s nice to take photos with a DSLR, but sometimes life is too short for lugging a big camera around!

My Dad lives in south Birmingham and when we visit, we go to the Lickeys! Really lovely place. I have very fond memories of my Granny and Grandpa hoofing themselves up some extraordinarily steep steps, and the whole extended family playing footie high up on a hill with a view across Brum. Happy times.

  7. Wonderful to have a great walk like this close by. Something comforting about knowing a place so well.

  8. I thought it looked familiar-the Lickey’s are one of my favourite places too. I’ve written about it so many times as well. In fact we’re off there this Saturday to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Just beautiful isn’t it x

Wow this looks so beautiful. I love the bright green trees. Such a beautiful place to walk around. I do wish we could take our doggy on long walks where others may be. Sadly he’s just so excitable that we can never let him off and despite all the training in the world he also pulls which becomes quite frustrating. Your doggy is so beautiful. #TheGallery

Oddly I seem to the one of the few people who picked a city. I can totally see why people pick lovely countryside places and I do love them too. Yours looks particularly beautiful but my heart will always belong to London
