I don’t know about you, but the minute spring peeks its head over the parapet I start thinking about healthier eating, yummy in-season fruits and veggies and trying out new things in the kitchen.

Of course the one kitchen gadget on everyone’s lips at the moment is the Nutribullet.
Well, I’ve teamed up with the lovely people at Ideal World to offer you the chance to win a NutriBullet for yourself.

To mark Ideal World’s 15th birthday this month, they will be offering the NutriBullet in funky gold or purple.
Why should you get excited about a NutriBullet? Well, for one it’s one of Ideal World’s best selling gadgets of all time – selling 3,000 in just one day this month!
It’s also an ‘extractor’ not a blender or juicer. What does that mean? Well according to the blurb, it means every ounce of nutritional benefit is taken from your food and preserved for optimum benefit.

All of which basically means you get to create soups, smoothies, sauces, salsas and salad dressings which come with all the good stuff included.

magic bulletI’ve been testing one out this week to see what all the fuss is about.
Everyone I speak to that has one, swears by it. A friend bought a ‘cheap imitation’ and says it’s nowhere near as good.
So what is all the fuss about.

Well, call me shallow, but I really like the way it looks on my kitchen worktop for starters; that’s a big win for me!
The NutriBullet comes with a range of accessories, a recipe book and a pocket nutritionist book. You get one large and two smaller cups (and two ‘handle’ accessories to turn your cup into a mug), an extractor blade, a milling blade (to turn nuts and seeds into powder) and two resealable lids to keep anything you make fresh in the cup.
And you basically throw everything into the cup, twist on the lid, blitz and voila.
Except it wasn’t voila for me the first time as I followed my own recipe and the end result was brown! Not the vibrant green and deep purples I’ve seen.
I think my mistake was adding blackberries and spinach together. We’ll have to see as I experiment some more. It tasted absolutely delicious mind you!

    I’d start simply with carrot and orange, with added banana for creaminess and a good helping of assorted seeds. Then I’d learn how to make more from all the recipes available online. I’ve been making soups lately with anything I had to use up in the fridge and I got the occasional greeny/brown sludge there, which tasted better than it looked.
