The Photo Gallery 228: My Back Garden

blossom bird house in acer

At the weekend I spent a small fortune on the birds who visit my garden.
Mia and I travelled from garden centre to DIY store to buy feeders and seed and nuts and fat balls by the armload to dangle from the branches of my favourite trees.

We spent forever deciding where they should go for maximum bird benefit, then I rather selfishly realised that they would all be hidden and I wanted to be able to sit in my kitchen and watch our feathered friends visit while eating my breakfast.
So we moved them around again; precariously perching on the kitchen stool to hook them over branches high up in the trees’ canopy.

Two in the silver birch my mum bought us as a wedding present, two in the maple tree under which our beloved cat Lily is buried, two in the huge Red Robin bush that sheds vivid red leaves onto my lawn, two on the sweet gum that has grown ridiculously tall and two hidden in the branches of the impressive Japanese maple bush just outside the back door.

My back garden is now perfection.

This post is for week 228 of The Photo Gallery: The theme is: My Back Garden.

Here’s how to join in

Take a photo using the theme I’ve given as your inspiration. There are no rules and you can interpret the theme any way you like.

Write a blog post using your photo. You can write as many or as few words as you like. You don’t even need to use a new photo; just a photo you think represents the prompt.

Add the Photo Gallery badge (and the foot of this post) to your post so other readers can find the other entries.

Link back to your post using the linky tool below so readers can find you. The linky stays open until Tuesday so you have plenty of time to join in.

Now go visit as many of the other entries as you can. Leave a comment, discover new blogs, discover new ways of taking photos and maybe share any tips you have.

The Photo Gallery isn’t about taking technically brilliant photos. You can take them on your phone, your point and shoot or your fancy pants camera. It’s about having a passion for photos, wanting to better yourself and discovering what other bloggers are doing.

Both these photographs are so, so beautiful, but I adore the second one immensely! The colour of those leaves and that gorgeous hanging beauty for the birds.

Sorry your mum has had to go through surgery, Tara. That must have been a huge worry. And my word you have had a lot deal with. Sending hugs and strength. And wine.

I love that picture of blossom. There is so much of it about at the moment, I want to photograph it all and make it stay forever.

  9. Oh that red is just glorious. I don’t blame you at all for wanting to see the birds after all your hard work setting it up 🙂 I used to love watching birds come right up to the back door, and then our killer machine cat arrived and she has slightly put the birds off-can’t think why…..
