The Photo Gallery 196: World Photo Day

world photo day

World Photo Day was yesterday and it was about celebrating everything which is glorious about photography.
I adore photos. I’m that person who comes round to your house and wants to flip through your photo albums. I’m that person who spends hours looking at websites at photo inspirations, photo journeys,
They don’t even have to be magnificent, technically perfect photos. They just need to tell a story.
Because that’s exactly what I think photographs should do; they should engage and entrance and pull the viewer in. And make you ask who and why and how come?

This comes into the ‘not technically brilliant’ pile. I was on a dog walk and only had my phone with me. I rounded the corner and WAMMO, this is the sight that greeted me. And right there and then I thought thank heavens photography has been invented because I’d really struggle to tell everyone about this view!

That’s a gorgeous photo. I love the cloud in front of the sun, making those shadows on the ground.

It may not meet "technically brilliant" in an experts book but to me this photo is brilliant. The sort of time of day and weather and view that makes you so glad to be alive.

I love that picture. It tells a story of a particular time of day that is brilliant in its simplicity.

I'm exactly the same, I love other peoples photos. A lovely friend of mine recently commented how boring she found other peoples holiday snaps on FB, but I'm the type of person who loves looking at other peoples photos. Maybe because I'm a bit nosey but I do have a genuine interest in photography, and like you, I love the story behind the photo xxx

  7. funny I spent ages looking at it wondering why you would pick a grainy shot when I know your camera takes such great pictures. I looked, I studied, I tried to get into the composition.

and then I read about it.

    and now I get it.

sometimes our emotions attached to the shot add so much more. sometimes a picture is more than visual.

A lovely choice of photography and the expanse of grass in the foreground pulls me in. I'd love to run to those trees and catch the last of that golden light. So beautiful x
