Breakfast smoothie

berry smoothie

Are you bored of cereal in the morning? Tired of toast? Can’t face a big fry up?
I have the BEST morning shake recipe for you. If nothing else this berry smoothie looks gorgeous, but let me tell you it also packs a healthy punch.
That’s right, something that tastes yummy that’s also good for you. A healthy heart breakfast smoothie.

200ml skimmed milk (preferably organic)
2 dessert spoons of natural yoghurt (I use Yeo Valley 0% Fat Natural)
Handful of blackberries, raspberries, red currants, blueberries
(If you buy frozen berries it makes your shake lovely and cold – perfect in the hot weather)
Heaped teaspoon of linseed
Heaped teaspoon of crunchy peanut butter (I use Whole Earth)
One banana, broken up into smaller chunks

Literally throw the lot into a jug and blitz with a handheld blender.
Serve it in your husband’s beer glass *ahem*.

Linseed, or flaxseed, is one of the most potent sources of omega 3 fatty acids found in nature.
Linseed can improve the quality of hair, nails, and skin, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, prevent nasties such as arthritis, relieve asthma, helps kidneys function effectively AND increase your vitality.
Why wouldn’t you want linseed in your diet?!

Hands up who’s screeching “but peanut butter is so fattening”. Good quality peanut butter has the same healthy monounsaturated fats as olive oil and is a good source of protein.

You’re welcome.
