The Photo Gallery 146: Dads

They don’t have the easiest of relationships.
He would never admit it, but she has him wrapped around her finger. At the age of 7. I cannot begin to fathom where their relationship will be when she’s nudging those teenage years.

But when she’s tired. When she needs to zone out and chill. When her turbo energy supply has dipped, she will retreat to her dad’s arms. To that warm crook in his neck that obviously feels so very safe.

I never had this as a little girl so it brings me great joy that she does.
The comfort of the crook of her dad’s neck.

  1. How lovely! My daughter is obsessed with Daddy, she wants to be with him all the time. Like you, I find this really beautiful. I wasn’t the same with my own Dad either.

  2. Like Sarah above and you, I did not have this either.
Mum and Dad divorced when I was 8 and I did not see him again until I was 20.
But until I had a baby, I spent 20 years putting my head in the crook of my now husband's neck.
Since Aaron came along I never have time for that, but maybe I should make time.
You've certainly given me pause for thought.

that's lovely!!! I had a conservative father who wasn't very huggy — I"m so glad my husband isn't like that with our children. To this day, hugs with my father are awkward. At least my brother just can shake hands.

So sweet. I never had that with my dad either so it really is lovely to see your own children bonding with their dads.

I just loved this post – the gorgeous picture and the words. It really evoked the calm that your daughter obviously feels around her Dad. There really is nothing quite like that father/daughter bond, is there?

I'm another one who didn't find safety in the arms of my father. I'm beyond pleased that my children do.
