My first ever experience of the Caribbean.
This is beautiful, laid back Haiti.
Beautiful but troubled Haiti. Cursed with destructive earthquakes – the most recent one in early 2010 had a devastating effect on the region.
Poor, mired in political turmoil and at the mercy of hurricanes and tropical storms, Haiti is at the forefront of the work of many international aid agencies.
And yet here I experienced paradise. This is a private beach I visited during my recent blogger trip with Royal Caribbean cruises. The other side of Haiti. The side that, just for a moment wants you to forget the real world and simply enjoy the beauty that Mother Nature has afforded her.
The side of the Caribbean I will always remember.
