It was an Emotional Day in the Sticky Fingers household yesterday.
My 9 year old moved up to middle school. In a new part of town, with no one he knows while his friends all go to another school.
I ranted a little about it here!
The night before, we packed his school bag, labelled everything, sorted out his uniform.
We chatted about how different lessons will be now, practised manipulating his new tie, laughed at how his regulation art apron swamps him, signed the ‘pupil and parent’ charters handed out by the school.
He has been so grown up and level-headed about it all and I am so bloody proud of him.
Mia had an extra day off school so we took ourselves off to the cinema because quite frankly the constant clock watching and wondering how he was getting on in maths/during lunchtime/in the playground was killing me.
It was an Emotional Day in the Sticky Fingers household yesterday, but not for the young man taking giant strides into the unknown.
He was fabulous.
It was his mother in the sidelines, once again watching one of her children exceed all her expectations.
And it felt good.
