When I realised work would have to stop over the school holidays because neither of my children wanted to go to the holiday club for any length of time, my heart sank.
Six whole weeks of trying to entertain a 5 and an 8 year old. Ye gods.
Truth be told we had the best time. The BEST time.
It wasn’t always easy and the tiredness, oh brother, the tiredness. But my kids have become these great little people to hang out with. So this is some of what we got up to.
We went walking and tree climbing and tree hugging *ahem* . . .
We played NUMEROUS card games, discovered new ones and got the rest of the family hooked on them . . .
We hung out with good friends . . .
Went camping . . .
Played rugby . . .
Photographed EVERYTHING . . .
Enjoyed our back garden . . .
Created shelters for little animals in amazingly beautiful forests . . .
And we bonded. As a family.
Of course, learning to play a tune on a blade of grass is always ALWAYS a big ole bonus when you’re 8.
