“Can I have a hug before you go to sleep, Mia?”
“No I don’t have any left.”
“You don’t have one hug for your mummy?”
“No, I gave it to daddy so you just can’t have one. You can have one tomorrow. My arms are just too tired to do it again. You’ll have to wait.”
I actually leave the room without a hug and she turns over without giving it a second thought.
